The Purple Relationships

Dolphin + Honey Badger

Purple Passion

Harmonious Relationship When in tune, this relationship is full of PASSION. Although they have many opposites, these differences can be the spice of life. They are both big picture and fast processing, meaning they have the ability and tendency to be great visionaries so they can have big dreams that they are likely to be able to meet with the badger’s drive and the dolphin’s energy. Their outgoing persona and “sky’s the limit” mindset can make this a real dynamic duo. They are ready to play hard and live life in the fast lane. These two can balance one another out, the dolphin bringing the people skills and the badger bringing the ability to get the work done. This can be a very complementary relationship as their strengths are opposite. They have open, honest communication and can keep the passion and adventure alive.

Purple Passion

Dissonant Relationship When these two do not respect the other, that PASSION turns volatile. They are both external processors, which means they have no filter and say intense and hurtful things. They can also be very impulsive. Over time, they can view everything as a competition and the fights become more often. The Badgers are very logical and may run over and discount the feelings of the dolphin, who is much more emotional. Therefore, the dolphin may feel their emotional needs are not met. They are not good listeners so although they talk, the message is likely not received. A stark difference for these two are their communication styles. Dolphins use lots of words and paint pictures with their words whereas the badgers see words strictly as tools to accomplish the goal of answering “what is the point?” Since dolphins may feel completely validated or invalidated by words, the badgers direct communication can frequently feel insensitive and be hurtful to the dolphin. The badger is likely to view the dolphin’s energy and abundance of words as insincere, insignificant, silly, and unnecessary causing great frustration for the badger who is impatiently waiting to get to the point. Also, the difference between abstract and concrete thinkers is evident in this union. Dolphins communicate things as figurative ideas that may or may not happen but when the badger hears these comments, to them they are written in stone.

Things to Remember:

For both the badger and the dolphin, remember that your biggest difference is your communication style and emotional needs. For dolphins, remember that the badger’s words are just tools and not meant as the personal attack it can sometimes feel like. Badgers, remember that your words do real damage. Badgers, do not assume that the dolphin’s communication is meant to be absolute, but instead is only theories or ideas, this will save you a lot of frustration. Dolphins, when communicating to your badger counterpart, condense your communication and get to your point. Badgers, when communicating to the dolphin, stop talking strictly about the task, use a lot more words, and give them your full attention, not multitasking.
